This exhibition brings together five artists whose self-publishing practice questions established forms of visibility and authority, and who distribute their publications independently. Rachel Thornton, Dominique Rivard, Audrey Beaulé, Nic Wilson and Marie Samuel Levasseur explore the accessible, intimate and subversive nature of the publication as a printed object, form of expression and place of dissemination to make it an alternative exhibition space – exhibition of art, but also of oneself.
As part of the collective exhibition Exhibiting with self-publishing to expose the self–, artists Audrey Beaulé, Dominique Rivard and Marie Samuel Levasseur as well as curator Janick Burn spoke informally about self-publishing as a practice artistic. This friendly discussion was an opportunity to discover the perspectives of these artists who explore the accessible, intimate and subversive nature of the publication as a printed object, a form of expression and a place of dissemination to make it an alternative exhibition space – exhibition of art, but also of oneself. It was about seeing how self-publishing fits into their respective lives and communities and getting an overview of their current projects.
